Just last week we saw a new Motorola device leak that we had never seen or heard of before. But it did look like a mid-range device, but it’s far from being mid-range in fact. The more you look at the specs of that device, the more you can see the spec sheet is as good as the Nexus 4, but not quite as good as the Galaxy S4 or HTC One. That XT912A could indeed be our first glimpse at a Google-powered Motorola device. Which dropped the kevlar backing and razr styling, which you won’t hear us complaining about. In fact it had a more rounded Nexus design. But the question is, would it be good enough to compete with the likes of Samsung, HTC or even Sony?
Sasquatch
One of the leaked codenames is “Sasquatch” which is supposedly heading to AT&T. It was spotted at 0xbenchmark on March 13th, there are no specs given but it is running Android 4.2.2. It is a new device that is in Motorola’s pipeline. So we’ll have to watch out for that one.
Yeti
This is another one that would be heading to AT&T. We believe it’s heading to AT&T because of the AT&T branding on it, but there aren’t any specs for it so far, just like with the Sasquatch above, but we do know that it is running Android 4.2.
Ghost
As far as we can tell, the Motorola Ghost is the phone that was leaked last week. It was model number XT912A. There’s a GLBenchmark entry for this device with AT&T branding so it is heading to at least AT&T. But there’s also enough sources that we could expect this one to land on all the major US carriers. And no this is NOT the X Phone. It’ll feature some older specs. It looks like this is the phone that Google wants to drop on us at incredibly low price points, which I’m sure we wouldn’t complain about.
The entry on GLBenchmark is showing the Ghost to be running a 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro with a 720p display. It’s also going to have on-screen buttons, no surprise there right? Since all of Motorola’s recent phones have been on-screen buttons. The latest benchmark on this one is showing Android 4.2.1, but it’ll probably have Android 4.2.2 before release.
There isn’t a whole lot to go on here, but it does sound like some promising devices coming from Motorola soon. Which they need to put something out. Their last release was in September for the Droid Razr HD, Droid Razr Maxx HD and Droid Razr M. Which were only for Verizon. Hopefully we’ll see something from Motorola pretty soon, besides the X Phone.
