We all know that the Samsung Galaxy S IV will be one of the hottest smartphones of 2013. While it’s easy to get lost in all of the features and accessories that come along with the South Korean manufacturer’s flagship device, one of the most interesting ones has to be the Samsung Game Pad.
This handheld accessory is supposed to allow for a great gaming experience by pairing with your Samsung device via bluetooth after coming in contact with a Tec Tile NFC tag (although I’m sure it pairs just fine without the Tec Tile). The Game Pad has dual analog sticks, shoulder keys, and four action buttons with which to control all of the action on the screen, and the device itself can support smartphones with displays ranging from 4″ to 6.3″ inches. That latter number has led some to believe that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note III will have the 6.3″ inch screen.
Up until now most of us had assumed that this accessory would work just the way it’s been pictured with the smartphone attached to the controller while in use, however a new video posted on Youtube by GamerHub.TV gives us an entirely different look at this thing in action. In this video you’ll see the Galaxy S IV in the Samsung smart dock which will send the whatever is on your screen from your phone to your TV via the built in HDMI connectivity. This allows for games to be played just as you would with any other gaming console. In the video we see demonstrations for Sonic and Need For Speed, and while we only see it on the television for a few short seconds the graphics look pretty impressive.

Samsung has plans for up to eighty compatible games shortly after launch, although when the Galaxy S IV goes on sale on April 26th there will only be 16 games available according to EA. The games, which will all be on sale for under $10 dollars, will include The Sims, Simpsons: Tapped Out, Plants vs. Zombies, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Monopoly, and Bejeweled Blitz, and be sold from Samsung’s own app store.
A press release from EA vice president of new platforms Glenn Roland reads:
“We’re delighted to be partnered with Samsung to bring some of our fans’ favorite mobile gaming titles to the Samsung Galaxy S4 in time for launch. The device’s higher resolution, larger screen and increased processing power will give our games an opportunity to look even more beautiful for Samsung consumers.”
So who’s excited for this new accessory? Is this the type of thing that could sway you to buy the Galaxy S IV over the HTC One? Or do you feel that this is just another gimmick?
