Well, good news and bad news for people that own some of the Samsung devices that are one year, or older. The good news, as you may already know from reading the title, is that your phone may well be receiving the gift of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. But, and of course there must be a but, some of the devices will receive the current version of Android and they’ll also miss out on Key Lime Pie.
The news was confirmed by an insider source of sammobile.com along with a list of devices. And here are the devices to stop at Android 4.2.2:

- Galaxy Grand DUOS (GT-I9082)
- Galaxy Ace 2 (GT-I8160)
- Galaxy S III mini (GT-I8190)
- Galaxy Beam (GT-I8350)
- Galaxy Express (GT-I8730)
- Galaxy S Advance (GT-I9070)
- Galaxy S II (GT-I9100)
- Galaxy S II Plus (GT-I9105)
- Galaxy Premier (GT-I9260)
- Galaxy Note (GT-N7000)
- Galaxy Young (GT-S6310)
- Galaxy Young DUOS (GT-S6312)
- Galaxy Fame (GT-S6810)
- Galaxy X Cover 2 (GT-S7710)
I’m kind of surprised to see the Galaxy S III Mini there, to be honest. I know it’s a mid-range phone, but it still is a Galaxy S handset. Also, it was announced in October 2012 and released on the market in November, which is less than 5 months ago.
There was another list leaked, this time a list of devices that will receive the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie treatment. And these are as follows:
- Galaxy S III (GT-I9300)
- Galaxy S III LTE (GT-I9305)
- Galaxy S 4 (GT-I9500)
- Galaxy S 4 LTE (GT-I9505)
- Galaxy Note II (GT-N7100)
- Galaxy Note II LTE (GT-N7105)
- Galaxy Note 8.0 (GT-N5100)
- Galaxy Note 8.0 LTE (GT-N5105)
- Galaxy Note 8.0 Wi-Fi (GT-N5110)
- Galaxy Note 10.1 (GT-N8000)
- Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE (GT-N8005)
- Galaxy Note 10.1 Wi-Fi (GT-N8010)
Not much of a shock there. All of these devices are on the top-shelf of Samsung’s latest Galaxy devices.
There might still be hope for the blacklisted phones and/or phones not included in any of the two lists. While this lists were confirmed by the insider, he or she also mentioned that it’s not the final list, so phones could be added, or removed from them (of course, phones that could be removed are more than likely from the first list).
Regardless of whenever Samsung will keep your phone updated or not, most of these phones have a pretty big community that will make sure to port the latest versions of custom ROMs for them. But this won’t help the average user, which doesn’t want to go through the hassle of rooting his or her phone.
