T-Mobile has now planned an event for March 26th, where they are going to announce all of their changes, which we’ve seen leaked and reported over the past few weeks. The event will take place in New York, and we’ll be sure to get all the juicy details for you.
T-Mobile is the nation’s fourth largest carrier and is getting their LTE network ready for launch in Las Vegas and Kansas City, and today updated their Galaxy Note 2 variant to support LTE. You probably remember last year, T-Mobile announced it was getting rid of subsidies, contracts and their classic plans. We’ve also seen some reports coming out of TmoNews that they are going down to one Value Plan. Basically you’ll be getting unlimited text and minutes with your choice of data. And yes, that includes unlimited data, and hotspot can be added to that.
There is also that merger with Metro PCS coming up for T-Mobile which has been approved by the FCC and other regulators. But there’s still the shareholder vote which is coming in April. We don’t know what changes the merger will bring for T-Mobile, and likely won’t know until later this year or next year. T-Mobile also declined to comment to AllThingsD before the event.
At CES, T-Mobile announced a new pre-paid plan that brings you unlimited data (no throttling) and they said they are looking to become the Uncarrier. Which means they are throwing out everything you hate about carriers. Including contracts, subsidies and much more. You can check out our other coverage on what T-Mobile might be announcing on the 26th, but it looks like some big stuff is going down soon.
How many of you are excited for T-Mobile’s planned changes? I know I’m excited as a T-Mobile customer and hope this will bring even more people over to T-Mobile soon.
