Google Glass Explorer Edition Officially Shipping…Today!

All those lucky Google Glass Explorers. Looks like your Google Glass are shipping, starting today. According to a few people including Brian Klug (@nerdtalker on Twitter). He posted an image of the email he received today. The email basically talks about the Google Glass demo at last year’s Google I/O where they jumped out of a plan during a Google+ hangout. That is when developers were able to pre-order their Google Glass. They had over 2000 Explorers who pre-ordered.

The email goes on to say how the team behind Project Glass have been working hard on the Glass Explorer Edition and that all the Explorer’s Project Glass are now getting ready to ship. The first batch of Google Glass hardware are popping off of the production line right now. Google says they are going to be shipping Google Glass as soon as it comes off the line, instead of waiting for them all to be made and then mass ship them.

These are only the people that pre-ordered Google Glass at Google I/O last June. Those of you that won the #IfIHadGlass competition aren’t getting yours yet. After all Google still needs to go ahead and pick some new winners. We had already heard earlier this month that Google would start shipping Glass in a few weeks, and that they are being put together here in the US. Always nice to see hardware like this produced right here in the US. It looks like they should be reaching doorsteps this week or early next week. And continue on until all the orders are filled.

Whoever pre-ordered their Google Glass units last year, you’re really lucky. To be some of the first people outside of Google to use Project Glass, its a pretty big deal. So how many of you are Google Glass Explorers? Let us know in the comments below.
