Today, the folks over at Phone Arena are passing along another rumor in regards to the Motorola X Phone. Now we’ve already heard from one of the newer Motorola employees, Guy Kawasaki, that pointed at perhaps seeing customizable options for the X Phone. Like perhaps screen size, RAM, or case material, but Phone Arena’s source has said that is highly unlikely now. But there still might be some customizations for the highly anticipated Motorola X phone.
When we first heard rumors that you might be able to customize the hardware of the X phone, we kinda debunked it. Mostly because it would cost Motorola so much money to be able to give us options for RAM, storage, display size, etc., and where Motorola has been losing money like crazy since Google acquired them about a year ago, it made it highly unlikely. But now it looks like there will be plenty of colors to choose from for the X phone. Probably not the thing most of us were hoping for, but it’s better than nothing I suppose. The rumor is that the X Phone will be available in over 20 different colors. So that sounds like we’ll have the X Phone Rainbow.
We still aren’t expecting to see the X Phone anytime soon. The latest rumor pointed at the X Phone being delayed in shipping until July or August which would be 2-3 months after Google I/O. Which means we’ll probably see a seperate Motorola event in June or July announcing the device. They may also announce some other devices that we heard about at AllThingsD: Dive Into Mobile this week from Google and Motorola employees.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but after all the Motorola news this week, I’m definitely starting to get excited for their future and to see what they have up their sleeves for the rest of 2013. They really need to release something since their last few phones were announced back in September. How many of you are excited to see what Motorola has?
