We’ve already seen some benchmarks for the Galaxy S4, both the Exynos and Snapdragon versions. The Snapdragon 600 Galaxy S4 will be heading to the US and a bunch of other countries. We’ve already posted that list a few weeks ago. The Exynos 5 Octa Galaxy S4 is only coming to a few countries, which is rather unfortunate. I’m sure all of us would like to brag and say “well my phone has an octa-core processor.”
Our friends over at Sam Mobile have done some digging and found out that there is actually 3 versions of the Galaxy S4:
- GT-I9500 – Exynos 5 Octa 1.6GHz without LTE
- GT-I9505 – Snapdragon 600 1.9GHz with LTE
- SHV-E300S – Exynos 5 Octa 1.8GHz with LTE
As you can see, Samsung has given a performance boost to the LTE Exynos 5 Octa chip. So keep in mind that these benchmarks are for the GT-I9500 model which is the Exynos 5 Octa without LTE. Which it still blows away the Snapdragon 600 which is clocked higher than the Exynos 5 Octa.
Sam Mobile’s insider Galaxy S4 scored 28018 on AnTuTu, while the Snapdragon Galaxy S4 scored 23607 on AnTuTu which was done by GSMArena. So we can pretty much expect the Exynos 5 Octa to score in the 30 thousand points range. As soon as we can find benchmarks for the SHV-E300S we’ll share them with you.
It’s probably important that we point out, while the Exynos 5 Octa did blow away the Snapdragon 600 in benchmarks, you probably won’t notice much of a performance difference in the quad-core Snapdragon 600 variant (GT-I9505). As I usually say, benchmarks really don’t matter for daily use. As the device is still going to fly across everything. The Exynos 5 Octa should have better battery life than the Snapdragon 600 variant thanks to ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture.
How many of you are disappointed that you won’t get to use the Exynos 5 Octa variant of the Galaxy S4? Let us know in the comments down below.
