There’s no denying that Samsung are an incredibly successful company and right now, they are the King of Android in terms of sales and popularity of their devices. It stands to reason then, that the South Korean giant wants to continue this trend and make even more of a name for themselves. We all know Samsung smartphones and tablets from buying off of the web or from those myriad of carrier stores but, Samsung are going after the big one now. They’re going after pure retail, by partnering with Best Buy to bring “Experience Shops” to their stores. 1,400 of them. That’s a lot of stores for Samsung to be occupying and, they’re going to have all 1,400 rolled out by early summer, with 900 of them rolling out this month alone.
When talking about technology and retail outlets, it’s hard not to bring up the incredibly succesful Apple Stores that are dotted around the country like ostentatious glass beacons for the Apple occult. For people to get into stores and use a device that they’re expected to pay several hundred dollars for – or pay a hefty bill for the next 24 months – is extremely important. It’ll help to push sales but, it’ll also help to push Samsung’s brand as well, having that presence is going to show that Samsung really do have what it takes to take on Apple at their own game.
These Experience Shops will feature Samsung-employed consultants, as well as specially trained Best Buy employees to educate and engage with customers looking to shop Samsung. AllThingsD have been able to get a hands-on look at what one of these Experience Shops looks like in the Best Buy in Lewisville, Texas and it occupies roughly 460 square feet which is a lot of space for a store within a store. On offer will be tablets, smartphones, smart TVs, accessories and more.
