Today at Google I/O, the Search Giant has announced a number of new advances in developer tools, a new subscription service for Music and more but, it all comes down to search. When we talk about search, we now think of Google Now, the new service that launched alongside Jelly Bean 4.1 at last year’s Google I/O. Since then, Google have added more cards and a Google Now widget. With this being I/O, you’d think that Google had a little more to update the app with.
Well, you’d be right because now, Google Now includes cards for Movies, Music, TV, Games and more. Here’s “What’s New” from the Play Store:
What’s in this version:
For Android 4.1+ (Jelly Bean):
– Reminders (e.g. say “remind me to buy milk this evening”, “remind me to take out the trash when I get home”)
– Upcoming books, music albums, tv shows and video games you may like
– Real time public transit updates (select cities)
– Last train home (Japan only)
Google have announced some big improvements to natural voice recognition on the whole today, and Now has not been left behind. With these new cards it’s even easier to keep on top of your favorite TV Shows and Music. We’d imagine that this will tie in nicely with the company’s new subscription service and it certainly suggests that Google Now is going to continue to be updated as Google continue to make Search smarter and more tailored towards the user.
Since Google Now launched last year, we’re sure that more and more of you have been adopting the service in your day-to-day lives but, how many of you find it a genuine help? Or is it just a slicker way to perform a web search, let us know what you think in the comments below!
