This evening, Samsung has announced that they have reached a milestone with their Galaxy S4. They have shipped 10 million Galaxy S4’s in less than a month since it’s launch. This sets a new record for Samsung and their line of smartphones. They just seem to be able to do no wrong with the Galaxy line. Each year the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note lines sell more, faster than the previous year. By contrast, last year the Galaxy S3 took 50 days to reach 10 million shipped units. So basically the Galaxy S4 sold the same amount in half that time, as the device went on sale April 27th. And to think, Verizon doesn’t launch their Galaxy S4 until tomorrow.
Statistics are showing that Samsung is selling four Galaxy S4’s every second, worldwide. That’s pretty amazing, and a lot of cash flowing into South Korea. Samsung also announced that they are bring new colors to the lineup coming this summer. That includes Purple Mirage and Brown Autumn. This might just be me, but why can’t Samsung call them natural colors? Like Purple, white, blue, brown, black, etc.?
This news is no surprise since we heard earlier this week that the co-CEO of Samsung, Shin Jong-kyun estimated that they would hit the 10 million mark this week. And they just did that. But keep in mind that this is shipped. As in the number of devices shipped to different channels around the world. This doesn’t mean there are 10 million people with Galaxy S4’s. This also probably includes all of us with review units from Samsung, and the carriers. That includes myself. But it’s still a great feat for Samsung. Let’s see if they can reach their goal of 100 million Galaxy S4’s in the next few months. At this rate, they might hit 100 million before those new colors come out. And I’m sure Samsung wouldn’t mind.
