Among all the Sonynews this morning, Verizon made the Casio G’zOne Commando 4G LTE official, and it’s hitting store shelves June 27th. Verizon has been the only carrier using Casio’s phones. Casio creates these really rugged (but ugly, at least in my opinion) devices for those that need a virtually unbreakable device. The new Commando 4G LTE has some okay-ish specs:
- 4-inch 800×480 resolution display
- 1GB of RAM
- 1.5GHz dual-core processor
- 16GB built in storage space
- 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera
- 4G LTE
- No idea what version of Android it’s running just yet
- multi-sensor tool for updating barometric readings, sun/moon displays, temperature comparisons and compass
The Casio G’zOne Commando 4G LTE, what an awkward name, is a revamp of the G’zOne Commando that was announced back in 2011. We don’t really know how well it has sold for Verizon, but obviously it’s selling well enough for them to continue making and selling phones to their customers.
The G’zOne Commando 4G LTE is not a flagship phone by any means. So I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if it did have Android 4.1 or even Ice Cream Sandwich. This phone is meant for Construction workers, or others who need a really rugged device that doesn’t break easily. Like the Nexus 4, which has glass on the front and back. The G’zOne Commando 4G LTE is available this Thursday at Verizon Wireless, both stores and online, for $99 along with a $50 mail-in rebate.
How many of our readers on Verizon would pick up the Casio G’zOne Commando 4G LTE? Is this a rugged enough device for you? This is a very outdoorsy type of phone. Let us know in the comments below if you’re going to pick this one up later this week.
