We’re learning more and more about the LG G2. We know it’s being announced at August 7th in NYC, which we’ll be covering that event in full. We know it’s going to be packing a Snapdragon 800 processor and have the volume rocker on the back. There;s a report coming out of a Korean outletThe Kyunghyang Shinmun, it looks like we’ll have to act surprised come August 7th.
A direct quote, apparently coming from LG Electronics CFO David Jung, pegs a release window of August for South Korea, September for North America and Europe and October for other regions throughout the world. Additionally, another LG exec names Verizon as a US Carrier launch partner. Which will be the G2’s third variant. Since we’ve seen a G2 at the FCC already that could be going to AT&T or T-Mobile or both.
This definitely has us excited for their event come early August. The LG G2 is a device we had hoped would be coming to more carriers than the Optimus G and Optimus G Pro have. The Optimus G had come to Sprint and AT&T last year, and the Optimus G Pro is exclusively on AT&T…at least for now. That might change soon. Of course, we’ll need to remind you to take this with a grain of salt. As we cannot confirm this report, but it definitely has us excited. Now we just need to hear about Sprint variant.
The LG G2 I expect to be a pretty popular device. And if LG can get it on all four carriers, they’ll definitely break their earnings record again, which they did for Q2 with the Optimus G Pro and Optimus G. But remember, the Optimus name is no longer here for their flagship devices. It’ll simply be called the G2 and the G Pro 2 come 2014. I’m very excited to see what LG has for their upcoming phones. The Optimue G Pro was one of my favorite devices.
