Today’s the day, the new Droid line-up is finally getting announced today, which means all of the rumors and the speculation can finally be put to rest. Well, almost. The folks over at Android Police have been digging through the FCC files and they’ve unearthed the battery capacities for the Droid Mini, the Droid Ultra and of course, the Droid MAXX. We all knew that Verizon and Motorola would come together to release a device with fantastic battery life once again after the success of the original Droid RAZR MAXX and the RAZR MAXX HD. Now, we know just how big the battery is going to be inside the Droid MAXX.
The magic number is 3,500 mAh, which is actually an increase from last year’s Droid RAZR MAXX HD at 3,300 mAh. We’re sure that as well as a slightly larger battery, the improvements under the hood should make for an even longer-lasting battery life than last year’s model. There’s also wireless charging coming along for the ride, which is something that Verizon seem increasingly interested in.
As for the Droid Mini and the Droid Ultra, the battery sizes haven’t gotten any better we’re afraid. The Droid Mini – compared to last year’s Droid RAZR M – will come with the same 2,000 mAh battery. However, the Droid Ultra is apparently going to lose some battery capacity, down from last year’s RAZR HD’s 2,530 mAh to just 2,130 mAh. We’re not sure what the deal with the reduction is here but, the Ultra is more than likely going to be a pretty thin device. With Verizon and Motorola offering the Droid MAXX, they can easily market the phone a little thinner, without taking heat for a smaller battery.
If anything, all of this confirms that this year’s crop of Droid devices is going to be shipping with some impressive battery life, especially when talking about the Droid MAXX. We’re interested to see which one of these would you go for? Let us know in the comments below.
