We’re getting really close to what could be the launch date for the Moto X and yet, there’s no end in sight to the amount of leaks that continue to surface around this upcoming smartphone. We’ve seen it in the wild, we’ve heard about its specs and now, we’re finally getting a look at what could be a press image of the device. Thanks to the hardworking @eveleaks presented by The Unlockr we have a look at one of the images that Motorola could be using to promote the device when it finally launches.
What can we possibly tell from a press image at this point? Well, surprisingly, a couple of things. For one, it looks like the back of the device – at least in black – will feature the same sort of pattern we’ve come to expect from Motorola and that on the front of the device they’ve gone with a super-minimal look like that of any Nexus. Onscreen buttons are present as well, just like we thought they would be, and we can clearly see that stock Android is running on the device. Whether or not that’s just a placeholder image or not, we can’t be for sure.
Yesterday, we got our hands on some specs for the device, and while these aren’t anything spectacular, they look good enough to comfortably run stock Android just fine. Here’s a quick look if you need a refresher.
- 4.5-inch display
- dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon MSM8960T processor
- 2GB of RAM
- Removable kevlar shell
- 1500mAh battery
- Android 4.2.2
There’s a chance that the Moto X is going to be announced August 1st and we’re certainly hoping that’s going to be the date because Motorola might have a real hit on their hands. While the specs aren’t really all that great, the device is supposed to be affordable so there has to be some compromises along the way. This could very well be the first mainstream device to run stock Android and actually sell. What do you think?
