While larger and larger displays are becoming the norm now, it seems that there’s also an uptick in the amount of smaller smartphones manufacturers are putting out there. Samsung sell a smartphone in any size imaginable but, they’ve also made “Mini” versions of their flagship Galaxy S smartphones, showing that Samsung has confidence in both the large and the small when it comes to their phones. HTC don’t want to leave the market just to Samsung though, and we’ve been hearing for some time now that an HTC One Mini is on its way. We’ve seen it leak a time or two before but not like this.
Smartnews.bg managed to get their hands on the device in black and it looks very much an HTC One but a little smaller. In fact, they’ve shared a few more details about key specs of the device as well. The 342 ppi density they’re citing leads to an HD 720p Display and they’ve confirmed that it’ll ship with 2GB of RAM and at least 16GB of storage. What isn’t discussed however is the CPU inside of this little guy, aside from the fact that it’s a dual-core CPU. Now, there’s nothing wrong with a dual-core CPU these days but, we just hope that HTC will choose something with a high clock speed.
Apparently the smartphone takes decent photos and considering that we’ve heard reports of the Mini One shipping with an UltraPixel camera we’re not too surprised. What will be interesting to see is just how the build of this compares to its bigger brother. Hopefully, it’ll be just as good as the One, which we found to be extremely well-built when we reviewed it.
Pricing is going to be a big factor for HTC here, with the Galaxy S4 Mini going on sale for more than most seem willing to pay, it’ll be interesting to see if HTC will sell the One Mini at a bargain price. Let us know in the comments if a smaller version of the One is something you’d buy.
