Last week, LG sent out a press release that they are dropping the Optimus name from their flagships, and also confirmed that the next-generation Optimus G would be simply the G2. Today, LG has begun sending out some new press invites for their event on August 7th in New York City, which you can see above. The invite even mentions the “all-new LG G2”.
The G2 has had a few confirmations already, like the fact it’ll be powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor. Similar to the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and the new Galaxy S4 LTE-Advanced variant. There’s also rumors of it being a 5.2-inch 1080p display along with 2-3GB of RAM. Which is about on par for a flagship in 2013. There’s also word of a 13MP camera on the back, let’s hope they do some work on the camera software too, it’ll be very similar to every other 13MP camera out there.
The LG G2 is one of the phones that I’m really excited for. Now if it were this time last year, I probably wouldn’t care too much. But after handling the Optimus G, and Optimus G Pro, I’m really excited to see what LG has in store for us with their next generation devices. So we’ve got just over two weeks before LG’s big event in NYC, and we’ll be covering every inch of the event so we can bring you all the details about the LG G2.
I’m hoping that LG can bring the G2 to all the carriers in the US, instead of the Optimus G which was on AT&T and Sprint and the Optimus G Pro was an AT&T exclusive. If LG really wants to make it big, they need to bring this to all the carriers at the same time. Anyone else agree?
