PhoneArena has an interesting exclusive this afternoon. We already know that the Droid Mini, Droid Maxx and Droid Ultra are being released on August 20th through Verizon. Now their source at Motorola is stating that the Moto X will be released “Somewhat simultaneously” with the new Droids announced earlier today. This is their same source that was pretty much correct about every other Moto X leak so far. But we’re still going to take this with a grain of salt.
We’ve already heard that the Moto X is going to be very cheap off contract, $299 for the 16GB and $349 for the 32GB version. This source is telling PhoneArena that the device will indeed be very cheap off-contract. Which is great news. Their source is also saying that all four devices will launch on Verizon within a few days of each other. That makes for a very busy August for Verizon employees. Additionally, that matches up with the leaked roadmap we saw a few weeks ago, which stated that the HTC One is coming August 1st and the Moto X on August 23rd.
So we’re going to go out on a limb and say the Moto X will launch on Verizon on August 23rd. Which is 3 days after the Droid launch at Verizon. We don’t have confirmation on that, but we have heard it from multiple sources, so it seems rather legit.
The Moto X will officially be announced next Thursday, which we’ll be covering every inch of that event. So hopefully, Motorola will give us some insight as to when the device will be available. As for launch dates on other carriers, we have no information yet, but we’re hoping for them to launch on AT&T and Sprint at relatively the same time as Verizon. We don’t want to hear the word “exclusive” when it comes to the Moto X.
