Lately, it seems like phone manufacturers are focusing more and more on the cameras. Which isn’t a bad thing, in fact it’s exactly what I want. Besides having a great battery, I want a great camera as well. This morning we got press renders of the Sony i1 Honami, along with some awesome specs of the device:
- 5-inch Full HD
- Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.3GHz
- 2GB of RAM
- 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD card
- IP57 watertight certification
- 3000mAh battery
- 20.7MP 1/2.3 camera sensor and dedicated BIONZ ISP
Those are some pretty hardcore specs right? According to a new report, it looks like at full resolution the device will take 4:3 photos, with 16:9 going down to 8MP. Which is kind of sad. We also don’t know if Sony has some type of oversampling tech like Nokia has in their PureView technology (you know that 41MP phone?) There seems to be quite a bit of leaks coming out about the Honami lately, so hopefully that means an official announcement for the Honami is due very soon.
We had heard rumors that Sony would announce it at an event on July 4th, but obviously that didn’t happen. Like the Moto X, the Sony i1 Honami has been seeing plenty of leaks as of late, so we’re expecting both devices to be formally announced any day now. Hopefully they can both beat out Samsung and the Galaxy Note 3, so they can get some time on the shelves before Samsung’s latest beast is available.
The Honami looks to be a pretty spectacular device, and who doesn’t want a high-end phone with a great camera? I just hope the camera doesn’t stick out like it does on the Nokia Lumia 1020 or the Galaxy S4 Zoom. How many of you agree? Let us know in the comments below what you think about this device from Sony.
