We just got an invite in our email from Verizon about an event in NYC on July 23rd. That’s next Tuesday, and it appears to be about the Motorola Droid family. As you can see from the image above Verizon will unveil “the next generation of one of their most popular family of devices.” That screams Droid right? Is that just me?
So it appears that Verizon will unveil the Droid Mini, Droid Maxx and Droid Ultra which we’ve seen leaked to no end in the past month or so. It’s about time Verizon got some new devices, as the only device they’ve released this year has been the Galaxy S4, which really wasn’t a “new” device. Motorola really hasn’t launched anything in nearly a year. Their last announcement was the Droid Razr HD, Droid Razr Maxx HD and Droid Razr M back last September.
The Droid Mini is said to be a 4.3-inch device with carbon fiber and capacitive buttons. The Droid Ultra is said to be a high-end device while the Droid Maxx is a high-end device with 48 hours of battery life. I really hope they put that 48 hours into the Moto X! The Droid line has been pretty successful for Verizon over the years, even if we hate the long names that accompany the devices, and hate when people say “oh I just got the new Droid” when they picked up a Galaxy S3. Yeah that’s real life folks. We’re not expecting to see the Moto X announced at this event, but some of the Motorola exec’s might have it, you never know.
We’ll be bringing you all the coverage from this event like we do every time. So make sure you stay tuned to Android Headlines for all the details as always. How many of you are excited for the next iteration of the Droid family? Let us know in the comments down below.
