Inside CyanogenMod’s ROM, they have a downloader feature which downloads the latest nightly or stable builds and allows you to update very easily. This isn’t that feature. This is actually an unofficial app that is on the Play Store that does basically the same thing. But according to a new post from the “CyanogenMod Downloader” page on Google+. It looks like the team has some changes in store for that app.
CyanogenMod Downloader posted the following:
Have you ever desired an app that lets you to wake up in the morning with your favourite ROM ever updated to the last version?
And maybe that saves your ass doing an automatic backup before the update?
And maybe that installs also your preferred Custom Kernel? And maybe all without a touch?
Stay tuned for next version of CyanogenMod Downloader..
Now I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’d love to wake up to a freshly downloaded nightly that all I had to do was confirm to have it flashed. Right now, I wake up, download the nightly, flash it then take my phone off the charger. Although currently I’m on stock Android, since CM 10.2 isn’t quite ready.
CyanogenMod Downloader was one of my favorite features in the CM ROMs and I’ve seen some others incorporate features similar to it. It just makes downloading and flashing nightlies so much easier. I have to be honest here, I hope they add settings to allow automatic downloads on Wifi only or on mobile data and Wifi. Or else, they’ll get a lot of flack from their users. Especially those that don’t have unlimited data.
CyanogenMod is one of the more “boring” ROMs out there. But it’s so great because it has great features and it supports so many devices. I believe they support over 250 devices right now. That’s a whole lot more than any other ROM. On top of that, the developers are doing this for free! Sure they get donations, but it’s not a lot. That’s mostly to get new devices to support and keep their site up and running.
I have to say I’m excited to see what changes we see in CyanogenMod Downloader. How about the rest of you? Let us know in the comments down below.
