One of the cooler things about the Moto X has definitely got to be the customization options that will be made available to customers. It’s not just a case of being able to choose from a number of different colors and the like, it’s so much more than that. We’ve heard a lot about it in the past few months and when the device was finally, officially announced yesterday, we were introduced to the Moto Maker. The Moto Maker is Motorola’s key to being able to provide so many custom options, not only that but they promise to have your own chosen device shipped to you within 4 days or less. That’s pretty incredible to say the least. Let’s take a look at the video from Motorola:

As we covered earlier, there are around 504 combinations of the Moto X that will be available to customers. That’s a lot. Regardless of how you feel about smartphones in different colors, this is going to be a great marketing hook for Motorola. “Designed by you” is clearly a new motto for Moto and you know what, it has a nice ring to it. Let’s say I were to design a Moto X for myself; I’d choose a wood back with a red pair of earphones and I’d possibly find a nice wallpaper to match everything up. My friend though, well he’s more likely to go for an all-red option as he’s obsessed with the color red. See, that’s the power that the Moto Maker can have: one phone for many different people.
The Moto Maker may be exclusive to AT&T for some time but, Verizon has already confirmed that they’ll be getting access to the Moto Maker later on this year. What do you think to the Moto Maker? Is it something that you’d used to make sure you got the smartphone you wanted, with all the trappings? Let us know in the comments below.
