Motorola to Hand out Moto X's for Free to Friends and Family Testing out MotoMaker – Sign Me Up!

For those that don’t know, MotoMaker is Motorola’s new website which allows you to customize your phone. You can choose the backplate, accent colors, the front, and even engrave it. This new program still needs testers, and a source is telling Droid-Life today that Motorola is planning to hand out free Moto X’s to friends and family and test out the MotoMaker website. Of course, it’s free but you’re signing a two-year contract. I’d love to test it out, what’s better than getting a free phone that you customized?

This new program was announced to employees yesterday, and also includes a $100 discount on a custom MotoMaker-made Moto X during checkout for friends and family, along with an additional $100 if they provide feedback  within two days of getting the phone. The Moto X is running at $199 on contract, that basically means you get a free phone plus a new contract.

One of Motorola’s spokespeople, William Moss, stated last week that MotoMaker configurator is one of the most “important parts” of the Moto X experience. This new program is going to help ensure that the MotoMaker is working the way it should be. The testing should be starting any day now as Motorola wants to get all the bugs worked out before the big launch at the end of the month.

We’ve seen plenty of videos of the MotoMaker from the event last week. It looks super simple to use and create your own Moto X. To me, it looks like they got every detail down, even the part where you can login with your Google account and choose a wallpaper. Meaning your phone is completely setup by the time it hits your doorstep. What else could you need or want? MotoMaker even lets you engrave your new phone. Which if you’re the type that likes to sell your phones after a few months, you’ll probably want to skip the engraving on the Moto X.

How many of you wish you knew someone that worked at Motorola? I know I wished I knew one, so I could get a free Moto X. Let us know your thoughts on this new program in the comments down below.
