The JSS15Q update has started rolling out to the new Nexus 7, this fixes the bug that was reported to lose the GPS lock after prolonged use and the only fix was to restart the device. The update is said to repair the bug but unfortunately there is no way to know when it will be hitting your device, hopefully this will be no longer than a couple of days (as long as you have stock recovery).
Users with rooted devices are reporting some errors however due to the open nature of the Android operating system I imagine it won’t be long before someone releases a patch for this.
For those of you who aren’t aware of the problems with the new Nexus 7 the device been affected with a couple of issues from launch, one of them was the GPS lock which could fail after a period of between two and thirty minutes causing the GPS icon to blink, this indicates that the GPS has gone back into searching mode. Sometimes rebooting the device would help however that wasn’t the case with every device.
Some users are also reporting problems with the multi touch function usually when using more than one finger or pinch to zoom. Thankfully the update fixes this also so early adopters can breathe a sigh of relief, newer devices will hopefully ship with the update installed or it will be available for download straight away from the first boot.
