You know how “phablets” are all the age? Well back in June, Sony announced the Xperia Z Ultra, which is a 6.44-inch phone with a Snapdragon 800 processor and is waterproof. Now, we initially thought that it might never come to the US and if it did, it’d be months down the road. But today, the newest beast from Sony has visited the FCC and is certified now. It has LTE bands 2, 4, 5 and 7. It also has 1700MHz HSPA connectivity, which appears likely that it’s heading to T-Mobile, or at least sold from Sony in the US to work on T-Mobile.
Over on Google+, I’ve seen a good number of our readers hoping and asking for T-Mobile to pick up this device, so this is going to be good news for all of those people. I’d love to see the Xperia Z Ultra hit T-Mobile, but I’m kind of afraid of what the pricing is going to be like. Sony’s phones are always pretty pricey, and this is a phone that makes the Xperia Z look a couple of years old. So lets hope we can pick it up for under $200 down payment.
As a reminder the Xperia Z Ultra comes with a 6.44-inch 1080p Triluminous display, it’s waterproof (IP58) and dustproof. It has a 8MP camera on the back with a 2MP on the front. Sporting a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz. It also has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable via microSD card slot. It’s also running Android 4.2.2 and has a 3050mAh battery inside, which seems a bit small for that sized battery. The Xperia Z Ultra is ultra thin as well at just 6.5mm thick.
Right now the Xperia Z Ultra is on sale in South-East Asia, and various other regions around the world. You can grab the Xperia Z Ultra now from places like Negri Electronics and Expansys USA, but only if you have nearly a grand to throw at this device. I’d definitely be excited to see the Xperia Z Ultra hit T-Mobile USA, that would definitely be my next phone. What about the rest of the T-Mobile family out there?
