LG is starting a big push for their new line of “G” Products. The G2 smartphone is hitting carriers all over the world and by the end of the year it’s said to be hitting 100 carriers. What about their latest tablet, the G Pad 8.3? Well, word from LG is that their new entry into the tablet world will not go unnoticed, either. On an international level, the G Pad 8.3 will be available in 30 countries before 2013 comes to a close. Their latest tablet will be coming to regions such as North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia, CIS, Africa and more.
While distribution on this scale is something to expect of a company like LG, they’ve been very focused on their home market for years now. LG make good products but, in the past they’ve had trouble rolling them out on an international level. LG is very much hoping to turn this around and it looks like the G2 and the G Pad are LG’s 1, 2 punch to get the ball rolling. Selling a million or so of something in your home country is great but, if you want to compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung, you need to think globally.
As for the tablet itself, LG could have a winner on their hands here. At 8.3-inches it provides a slightly different form-factor to the Nexus 7 and with a Snapdragon 600 onboard, it should out-perform Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 3 line quite handily. If you’ve forgotten what makes the G Pad 8.3 such a good tablet, take a look at the specs below:
- 8.3-inch Full HD at 1920—1200
- A pixel Density of 273 PPI
- A 1.7GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor
- 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM
- 5 MP rear facing camera / 1.3 MP front facing camera
- 16GB internal storage
- Android 4.2.2
- A sizable 4,600 mAh
No matter how good the device looks on paper however, the G Pad 8.3 will have to be priced right. With a new iPad Mini on the horizon and the Nexus 7 offering great value for money, LG will need to watch their pricing. If they get that right however, then LG might just find themselves selling quite a few of these during this Holiday Season. What do you guys think to the G Pad 8.3? Let us know in the comments below!
