U.S. Cellular has been accepting pre-orders for the Moto X since early August. In all this time, there was no word on when those pre-orders were going to arrive. No shipping dates, nothing solid for subscribers to go on. If you’ve been frustrated, waiting on more details from U.S. Cellular, today is your lucky day. The wait is over. U.S. Cellular has announced that the Moto-X pre-order period is over. As of today, September 4th, the smartphone is available online at uscellular.com. It will begin arriving in retail locations this Friday, September 6th.
The company has the Moto X a good price-point. The 16 GB version is available for just $124.99 for new customers or if you add a new line of service to your existing plan. Existing customers can upgrade for the standard $199 price. These prices are contingent on signing a new two-year contract, naturally.
There is a full price listed on the U.S. Cellular website, dubbed the “original price.” That price is $699.99. There is not currently a way to purchase the Moto X from U.S. Cellular and put it on a pre-paid plan, so this price is for customers who don’t have an available upgrade or just want to purchase the phone at full retail price and add it to their existing post-paid plan.
U.S. Cellular is making the Moto X available on their website in two colors, the standard Woven Black and Woven White that other companies are also stocking. At some point, the option to use MotoMaker to customize your phone should also be made available to U.S. Cellular subscribers. That privilege is exclusive to AT&T customers for the time being.
The Moto X is Motorola’s new flagship Android smartphone. It runs on Android 4.2.2 and has a 4.7-inch, 720p display, 1.7 GHz dual-core processor with Motorola’s X-8 Computing System, 2 GB of RAM, and a 10 megapixel Clear Pixel rear camera.
