Moto X Touchless Control vs DROID Ultra Touchless Control: Which Is Faster?

As most of you know, we have both the Moto X and the DROID Ultra in house right now for testing. So we’re doing some comparisons between the two. If you watched our latest episode of the AH Show last night, then you heard me talk about the G2, Moto X and the DROID Ultra. I actually briefly talked about the Touchless Control on both devices and how one was faster than another. So today, I decided to do a little speedtest between the two devices and see which one is truly the fastest.

For the test, I had both devices on the same wireless network. Since one is Sprint and the other is Verizon, I didn’t want an unfair advantage. I asked Google Now a few different questions. Ranging from who the mayor of Detroit, to the weather to playing music from Google Music. Overall the DROID Ultra seemed to be a bit faster, which is still a bit puzzling to me, and here’s why. Both the Moto X and DROID Ultra are sporting the exact same specs. The same customized Snapdragon S4 Pro dual-core processor, the same 2GB of RAM, even the same version of Touchless Control and both on the same WiFi network. So it’s pretty interesting to see the DROID Ultra answer these questions faster on two out of the three queries we asked both devices.

You can see the video above to see for yourself how they both stacked up. But it’s definitely interesting. As a teaser for my reviews of both devices that are coming out this weekend, I’m actually leaning more towards the DROID Ultra. The reason being is the Moto X just seems so small. Even though I’ve been carrying around a 4.7-inch Nexus 4 for almost a year, and a 4.65-inch Galaxy Nexus before that, the Moto X just seems so small because of the thin bezels. Make sure you stay tuned to Android Headlines this weekend for both reviews!
