Finally, we have the Moto X in house. So I decided to take a few minutes and shoot an unboxing video along with writing up a post with my initial thoughts on the device. The Moto X is almost as controversial a device as the G2. Why? Because of the specs. It’s running a Snapdragon S4 Pro dual-core processor. Which the Nexus 4 has a Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor. So that made all of us scratch our heads when it was announced. I’ve been using the device for a few hours now, and I have to say it’s really smooth. The LG G2 with the Snapdragon 800 was pretty smooth, but I may have to say that the Moto X is even smoother. Motorola really optimized this device with their Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System. It’s going to be interesting to see how battery life stacks up.
I’m pretty impressed with the Touchless Control (aka Always-on Listening Google Now type feature), along with the Active Display. As many others have said, the Active Display is also one of my favorite features so far. When I learned that the Moto X would be featuring a 720p AMOLED display, my first thoughts were “eww”. I’ve used many Motorola devices and Samsung devices in the past, and I’m not a fan of AMOLED, the 1080p AMOLED displays are much better however. The good thing about this panel is that it’s 720p RGB and not Pentile. So it actually looks really good. At 4.7-inches it looks great, but at 5-inches (like the DROID Maxx and Ultra) it may not look as great.

So I’ll be spending the next week or so putting the Moto X through it’s paces. You’re likely to see quite a bit of content from me on the Moto X, since there are so many features.
