Nexus 5 Render Looks Rather Familiar – Also Looks Like a Nexus 7 Mini

Earlier this week, after Google dropped that bombshell on us about the next version of Android being named Kit Kat, yes Kit Kat as in the candy bar. The company also posted a video of the new statue being delivered and set up on the lawn at the Googleplex. As usual, many of the Googlers were out to take pictures of their new friend. Normally we wouldn’t read to much into it, but we did notice that there was an unidentified Nexus device in the mix. Quite possibly the new Nexus 5 that’s set to debut this fall with Android 4.4.

We talked about this unidentified Nexus device on Tuesday and it looks quite a bit like the Nexus 7, but smaller. The camera on the back also seems to be a bit bigger like perhaps an UltraPixel camera. Which personally, I’d love to have a 8MP UltraPixel camera, I love the camera on the HTC One and One Mini but would love more megapixels for regular pictures. We also noticed that the LG logo and the “N” for Nexus on the back were covered up.

Well now there’s a render floating around that is based off of that picture in the video which Google quickly took down. Which you can see the LG logo, the Nexus branding and all the FCC information. It actually looks really nice. Now I love my Nexus 7 (2013) and would love a smaller version of it as my phone. But man this looks a lot like a Nexus 7 mini. Which is what everyone seems to be doing lately, making mini versions of other devices.

It’s important to keep in mind that this is all unconfirmed and should be treated as such. So we are not saying that this is definitely the Nexus 5. But what we are saying is that this is a Nexus device, that’s unannounced and therefore unidentified. Hopefully we’ll learn more about it soon.

How many of you would buy this Nexus 5 if this is indeed the real deal? Let us know in the comments below.
