For a while now, there have been leaks about Samsung bringing out a new 12.2-inch Galaxy Tablet, but we were not sure if it would be the lower-end Galaxy Tab series or the high-end Galaxy Note Tablet. With Samsung reducing requests for production parts of their Galaxy Note 10.1 to concentrate more on the most popular 7-8-inch sizes, we would normally be wondering if the rumors were true. However, the original July 27 information from our trustworthy @evleaks seems to be bearing fruit. He not only tweeted the leak, but even some specifications of the new Note 12.2 and a Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet. In addition, to add even further validity to the leak, thanks to SamMobile and MoviePlayer, we are even treated to a glimpse of that tweeted Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2 in a leaked image – obviously not a pure photo, but an image nonetheless.
Because this is the SM-P900 designation and it is from the “9” series we are led to believe this is a flagship series, or Galaxy Note tablet. The Tweet, besides giving the 12.2-inch display, also treats us to a few more facts about the device. The display will have a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, and is using the Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor, most likely the newest edition, model 5420. The device will also come with an S-Pen, which should come as no surprise since it is a Galaxy Note device.
From the leaked image we can tell that Samsung is staying with its physical button format and using a very symmetrical, squared off, design with about the same amount of bezel at the top and bottom of the device, with the side bezel slightly smaller.
With the month old tweet and now the availability of a leaked image of the Galaxy Note 12.2, we can only assume it will be unveiled at the IFA in Berlin, fast approaching from September 6-9, with Samsung holding its own Unpacked Event on September 4. We should also see the Galaxy Note 3 phablet and Galaxy Gear smartwatch at this event was well.
