Samsung is wasting no time with the launch of the Galaxy Note 3 in announcing the fact that it will debut in three colors from the get go – Black, White, and Pink. Generally Black and White are standard fare, followed later by an additional color or two, generally a Pink for the fairer sex and sometimes a burgundy, gray, or blue, if we are really lucky!
The colored versions are usually carrier specific, but with Samsung announcing the color Pink as a launch color, we may see it available on more than one carrier. If the information is not leaked ahead of time, we will have to wait and see what options are available on the carrier’s website. I hope they all get the Pink color, so all of the Pink lovers can have the choice, although most consumers buy a cover for their device and then the world is their oyster when it comes to selecting a color.
The new Galaxy Note 3 has a leather-style back to it, which should allow for a better grip, no fingerprints, and a little more style then simply the plastic look we were accustomed to and criticized on the Note 2. The Note 3 is lighter, thinner, and more powerful than its predecessor.
The main upgrades are going to a 1920 x 1080 Super AMOLED 5.7-inch display, 3GB RAM, 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor (the jury is still out on if and when the Exynos 5 Octa-core at 1.9GHz might be used), 32GB Storage, and the camera gets bumped from 8MP to 13MP with a slew of added features. It will come out of the box with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Even with the slightly larger display, the outside dimensions stay pretty much the same.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to launch on September 25 in 149 countries, with the U.S. getting theirs in October and arriving on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular. Pricing for a two-year contract should be $299, the same as the Note 2, and though expensive, the Note 3 is definitely an upgrade in display and memory, for the same price.
