Want to Check Out the Nexus 5 Before it's Released? You Can With This Virtual 3D Render

The Nexus 5 has been hyped, rumored, and leaked all over the place. A Google employee gave us our first glimpse in a Kit Kat unveiling video, which has since been pulled by Google. Then an FCC filing showed us the new smartphone. It has a launch date set somewhere around the end of October or maybe early November. If you don’t want to wait to check out Google’s next Nexus device, a user on reddithas made a sweet 3D mock-up of it based on current leaked information. It probably gives us a good look at the final Nexus 5 smartphone. Keep in mind that this is totally unofficial, but it’s still really fun.

The Nexus 5 should be launching at the end of October or beginning of November. We’re basing that on past Nexus launches. We are also hearing that the new Nexus 5 will launch with Android 4.4 Kit Kat. We’ve heard Kit Kat release dates as early as October 14th, but nothing has been confirmed by Google. The Nexus 5 should be made by LG. This makes sense with the previous pattern of Nexus device manufacturers. If we count the HTC Dream, then HTC had the first two Nexus releases with the second being the Nexus One. Samsung then got the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus, and LG manufactured last year’s Nexus 4. Even though Google just released Android 4.3, it appears that 4.4 Kit Kat is right around the corner and should be debuted on the Nexus 5.

The next Nexus smartphone is going to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC and support 7 bands of 4G LTE connectivity. Everyone except Verizon is going to be welcome at the Nexus 5 LTE party. Given the debacle that was the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, we’re not surprised that Big Red is getting left out again. Tack on a rumored 13 megapixel rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization and a 5-inch, 1080p display, and we’re looking at a very solid, high-end smartphone.
