Thanks to a tipster over at Mobile Syrup, we are able to present a couple press photos of the new Nexus 5 with the Telus branding in the screen. Google and LG collaborated on the Nexus 4 with great success, so on the heels of the well-received LG G2, they decided not to mess with a good thing and soon we will see the next rendition of an LG made Nexus line of phones.
The Nexus 5 phone is unannounced, but that has not stopped the almost daily rumors and leaks as to exactly what the specifications will be or what date they intend to make it available to the public for sale. Rumors had it launching the mid part of October, which has since come and gone, so now we set our eyes on a Google Play launch by the end of October. One of the great things about the Google Nexus lines of phones, other than carrying stock Android with no overlay or “skin” like Sense or TouchWiz, is its reasonable price tag – and that will continue with the Nexus 5 with an estimated price of $349 for the 16GB version and $399 for the 32GB version.
Which carrier will get the new Nexus 5 is also rather a mystery at this point, although with this credible press image, we can be fairly sure that TELUS will receive the new phone. There is no exact pricing or availability, but all eyes point to possibly an October 28 release. The other big question is will the new Nexus 5 come with the newest Android 4.4 KitKat – many things indicate that it will contain Google’s latest OS.
Android Police had reported that Android 4.4 KitKat will arrive with a new launcher called the “Google Experience,” with transparent navigation and menu bars. Other leaks have also indicated new icon designs for the new, transparent app drawer. It looks like we have lots to look forward to when the new Nexus 5 is announced, hopefully within the new two weeks.
Let us now if the new Nexus 5 will be your phone of choice and if you think it will arrive with the new Android 4.4 KitKat
