AH Show Episode 36: Nexus 5 & KitKat Q&A

This afternoon, all of the Android Headlines Editors (myself, Tom, and Chris) all sat down and talked about the Nexus 5 live on a Hangout on Air. We also took questions from our amazing readers. We covered just about everything you could think of. Starting with the design and build of the Nexus 5, along with the specs, and even parts of KitKat. We also talked about the differences between Dalvik and ART which I played with over the weekend. The Nexus 5 and KitKat is a huge upgrade from both the Nexus 4 and Jelly Bean.

The Nexus 5 is $350 off contract, which many people will buy because it is so cheap. Even if the battery life and camera isn’t all that good. Keeping that in mind, we are all in agreement that the Nexus 5 is the best phone at that price point. Sure it’s not better than the LG G2, Galaxy Note 3 or any other flagship out there. But those flagships also come with contracts or a $700 price tag. While the Nexus 5 is just $350 off contract. That’s pretty insane when you think about it.

We also took a ton of questions from our readers, well viewers. Some asking if it was better than the Nexus 4 or Galaxy S4. Some asking if switching from ART to dalvik caused some damage, etc. We had a great time talking all about the Nexus 5 and taking questions from our viewers, and we’re going to try and do this again for the next flagship device that comes across our desks. Probably something after CES. But we’ll see. If you missed our Galaxy Note 3 hangout, you’ll want to check that out as well. Just because you missed our hangout, doesn’t mean you still can’t ask us questions. Feel free to ask questions in the comments below and check out Tom’s review of the Nexus 5 and my review of KitKat.
