AT&T Moto X Getting the Android 4.4 KitKat Update Right Now!

Motorola just keeps on chugging. They started out this week by updating the Verizon Moto X to Android 4.4 – KitKat. Then started updating the T-Mobile and unlocked versions of the Moto X got the update a couple days later. Now, AT&T and Motorola are pushing out the Android 4.4 OTA for the Moto X on AT&T. This is a pretty big deal, since now the only Moto X still waiting for the update is Sprint. And no one else is even close to updating their devices yet. The earliest we’ve seen is slated for January.

This update is mostly all about KitKat, there’s not a whole lot more in this update other than that. It’s a 326.5MB download, so it’s a good idea to be on WiFi when you’re attempting to download this update. If you want to go ahead and find the update, just go into Settings > About Phone > System Updates. Also, remember that on AT&T, they only allow you to check for updates once a day. So be careful. As soon as we get our hands on the OTA file, we’ll be sure to upload it for all of you to go ahead and update your Moto X sooner.

The update does allow Google Wallet to work on the Moto X on AT&T, which is a pretty big deal. Since Android 4.4 – KitKat does get rid of the need for the secure element that Google Wallet used to need. So hey, Motorola is definitely doing things right. We used to wait months and months before we’d even see leaks for their updates. But now, just 3 weeks after KitKat was announced, we’ve got the official update rolling out to 4 different variants of the device. That’s a pretty big change in my opinion. And I’m proud of Motorola getting these updates out so quickly.

How many of you with the AT&T Moto X have received the update already? Let us know in the comments below.
