If you’re one of those that has the Nexus 5, then you’re going to be happy to know that there is an unofficial build of CyanogenMod 11. Now this is an unofficial build, which means some things might be missing or broken. And of course this is also an early build, which I’d expect it to have plenty of bugs as well. It is based off of Android 4.4 KitKat, hence the name CyanogenMod 11.
You can check out this XDA forum thread for more information. But thanks to user m3dd0g, you can now get CyanogenMod 11 on your brand new Nexus 5. You’re going to want to make sure you download the latest version of Gapps to flash along with CyanogenMod 11. There are likely to be plenty of bugs and issues with this ROM, so you’ll want to make sure you have an extra device, in case you have issues with this one. As this is definitely a beta.
I’d expect CyanogenMod to start doing nightlies for CyanogenMod 11 for the Nexus 5 within the next week or so, since they’ve had the source code for about 2 weeks now. To install it you’ll need a rooted and unlocked Nexus 5 along with a custom recovery installed. Which can be ClockworkMod recovery or TWRP or another one. But those are the two most popular. Next you’ll need to reboot into recovery and flash both CM 11 and Gapps. Then you’ll need to clear your data and clear your cache as well, then reboot and it may take a few minutes to finish rebooting. Which is pretty much standard for fresh new Custom ROMs being installed.
