So, you have a Nexus device, hell let’s say you have more than one and you want to be able to flash ROMs, unlock that bootloader or just return things to normal. Well, our friends over at Ausdroid have discovered that the brilliant mskip is back with a new toolkit. This time around, this is the toolkit to end all toolkits as it brings all of the recent Nexus devices together. Nexus devices that are supported are as follows: Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (both 2012 and 2013 models) and the Nexus 10. That’s a whole lot of Nexus right there and absolutely perfect if you’re using more than one Nexus device as we all know the commands for both are pretty much the same.
No matter how good you are with adb and fastboot – I thought I was pretty handy – these toolkits offer more than just the usual automation of commands such “fastboot oem_unlock” and can be a big time saver. For one, you’ll always have a recovery image at the handy with mskip’s toolkit, as well as the ability to return to stock when things go wrong. Toolkits such as these can make things nice and easy when a new OTA comes out and neither TWRP or CWM is playing ball. This exact scenario happened with my Nexus 7 (2012) when trying to get some choclatey KitKat. With this toolkit I was able to simply and easily return to stock and then install the update from there.
You’ve probably used different individual toolkits from mskip in the past but, this one has all of the tools in one which is really quite handy if you have fastboot files and such all over your hard drive. This sort of software takes a lot of time to put together and this isn’t your standard sort of script, this is sophisticated stuff at work here. So, if you respect his hard work you can donate to the project, which will get you automatic updates to the toolkit. You can download the Unified Nexus 5 Toolkit from the original thread on XDA.
