LG G2 owners on Verizon’s network are in for a treat today, Our friends at Droid Life have pointed us to as a custom ROM built on Android 4.4 KitKat available via XDA has just hit the internet. The custom ROM known as Gummy Rom is now available for install on rooted LG G2 devices, and brings a near stock build of Android 4.4 to the table. Your device must be rooted before beginning the ROM installation process.

The date of Verizon’s official Android 4.4 KitKat release is still unknown, with the update landing on Verizon Moto X devices earlier today. The update will be landing on most newer Droid devices in the near future, including the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, Droid mini, Droid RAZR HD, Droid RAZR Maxx HD and Droid RAZR M. HTC has stated that devices across all carriers will receive Android 4.4 KitKat at the end of January next year, which means it could take a while for the update to hit Verizon devices, as the carrier has a history of taking longer than other carriers to approve software updates.

The features of Gummy ROM include:

  • Status Bar Mods
  • Theme Manager
  • Hardware Key Mod
  • Lock Screen Mod
  • Many Wallpapers
  • Performance Control
