Weekly Poll: Who's Still Waiting on KitKat On their Nexus Device(s)? What do You Think Of KitKat?

Android 4.4 – KitKat was announced on October 31st, or Halloween. Pretty nice treat from Google. Although the OTA took a while to start rolling out to everyone. We saw Tuesday night that KitKat had begun rolling out to the WiFi models of the Nexus 7 and 10. But the Nexus 4, and Nexus 7 HSPA+ and LTE models have yet to receive an OTA. However, earlier today, Google uploaded the Nexus 7 (both 2012 and 2013 models) and Nexus 4 factory images for KitKat. So now we can have Android 4.4 – KitKat on more than just the Nexus 5. As someone that owns the Nexus 4, 5, and 7, I’m definitely enjoying KitKat right now. And that’s what we are talking about today.

Sure a lot of people that are not Nexus fans thought we were getting a little carried away with all the rumors and leaks leading up to the KitKat and Nexus 5 event on Halloween. But what a lot of them didn’t realize, is that this isn’t just about the Nexus 5, but about Android 4.4 – KitKat. Unlike when Samsung or HTC announces a new phone with a new version of Touchwiz or Sense, KitKat is going to be available for every Android device that’s running 512MB of RAM or more. Which is why KitKat was such a huge announcement, not just for Nexus fans but Android fans in general.

I’ve been using KitKat for about a week and a half now, and I have to say I’m loving the changes Google made. I’m really loving the Google Experience Launcher on the Nexus 5, I’m kind of sad that it’s only on the Nexus 5 for now, hopefully it’ll expand soon so everyone can enjoy it. I’m also loving the translucent navigation and status bars along with the white/gray icons in the status bar. I’m a big UI guy, since I’m studying to be a web designer in my free time. So these UI changes are really what I love about KitKat. But what do the rest of you think? Are you still waiting on KitKat to hit your device? Let us know in the comments below.
