Those of you up North in Canada, you’ll be glad to know that the Nexus 5 is launching on WIND Mobile tomorrow. However, there seems to be a bit of a catch. They are only carrying the 16GB black model. So no white Nexus 5’s and no 32GB Nexus 5’s either. Which kind of sucks, but that’s life. As far as pricing goes, we’re looking at $499 outright, or WINDtab on $30 plan: $399, WINDtab on $40 plan is $249 and WINDtab on a $50 plan is $99. So not bad pricing right there. Sure it’s a bit of a markup over what Google is charging, but it could be worse. In fact, it probably will be in other countries where the Play Store doesn’t sell devices yet.
In case you forgot, the Nexus 5 is packing a 5-inch 1080p display which has a 445ppi. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM. Along with having a 8MP camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) on the back and a 1.3MP camera on the front. It has 16GB of internal storage (32GB option on Google Play). There’s no micro SD card slot as usual on Nexus devices. It’s weighing in at about 130 grams and the dimensions are 69.17 x 137.84 x 8.59mm. So it’s just a hair larger than the Nexus 4, and weighs even less, which is kinda surprising. Don’t forget, it’s got Android 4.4 – KitKat pre-installed on it.
Of course, we already did our review on both the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 – KitKat as well as doing a nearly 2-hour podcast on the Nexus 5 and KitKat. So make sure you check those out if you’re still on the fence about picking up the Nexus 5. It’s definitely a great device, especially for the price, so you’ll want to check it out once it launches on WIND Mobile tomorrow.
