It’s winter, it’s cold outside, and it’s time to bundle up next to the fire with a warm cup of something. What do you do if you don’t have a fireplace? You could always pile on the blankets and turn the thermostat up, but here’s something a little more fun. The Google Chrome team is posting video of seasonal fireplaces to the Chromecast YouTube channel every day next week. What you can do is pull up the YouTube page on your Android device, or in your Chrome browser, and cast that fire right to your TV using your Chromecast dongle. Now you have an hour’s worth of nice, cozy fire for those cold winter nights. From the Chrome Google+ page:
Chromies, it’s cold outside. Warm up with the +YouTube Fireplace using Chromecast. Each day next week, we’ll post a new video from a YouTube Creator who put their own spin on the traditional burning log video, which you can find at yt.be/fireplace. We’ll be casting them to our TV using #Chromecast.
Sometimes just looking at a fire can make you feel warmer, right? We know that this video won’t actually heat up your living room, but it’s fun nonetheless. The Google Chrome team is going to be adding a new video every day next week. They are even taking submissions from YouTube Creators. If you would like to create a fire and have it featured on the Chromecast YouTube channel, just put your video together and post it on Google+. Make sure to tag it with #NowCasting and #YouTubeFireplace so other users can find it.
Netflix has a similar hour-long fireplace that you can play on your TV if you are a Netflix subscriber. Just go in to your search menu and type in “Fireplace for your Home.” The Netflix fire should pull right up, and you can enjoy your crackling yuletide fire that way. There’s holiday music that plays in the background of this one, too. Fun!
Google is running promos on Chromecast this holiday season, so if you have been holding off on purchasing one, you should be able to find a great deal on one. What are you waiting for?
