Last week, Motorola began their Moto X Cyber Monday sale. Which saw a ton of people looking to get a Moto X, including me. On Monday, December 2nd, MotoMaker wasn’t up and running at all. So only Developer Edition of the Moto X were able to be sold. However, Motorola did do two more days of their Cyber Monday sale for the MotoMaker Moto X, which was last Wednesday, December 4th and this past Monday December 9th.
Now we kind of expected that we wouldn’t get our phones within 4 days. But when I ordered mine last Wednesday, the estimated ship date was this past Monday which was less than 4 business days. Then came the winter storms that hit Texas, and hit them hard. When I saw how bad Texas had it, I actually kind of laughed. Living up North my entire life, we are used to that type of weather and see it basically from now until April. Thanks to the storms, both FedEx and Motorola were grounded for about 4-5 days. And everything started moving late Monday and back to 100% on Tuesday. Needless to say, they’ve still been accepting Moto X orders. Which, why shouldn’t they? Which has increased the wait time for custom Moto X orders to almost 2 weeks now.
If Motorola is anything like Google, you’ll probably get yours in less than 13 days. But that’s still a long time to wait for a phone. Hopefully they catch up pretty quickly. Motorola has also said they have “several contingencies” in place and at present there’s only a 1-2 day shipping delay. But that’s not including building the actual Moto X.
“Unfortunately a winter storm is causing hazardous conditions in Fort Worth, where our factory is located. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our team members, as well as providing the highest level of service to our customers. We are taking steps to make up any lost time, but we anticipate some delays.”
Those that haven’t yet gone ahead and used their $150 off promo code from the Cyber Monday sale, well be prepared to wait. Although it shouldn’t be too bad since you’re getting a great phone at a great off-contract price. Anyone else seeing huge delays with their Moto X from Motorola?
