Amazon has some great Cyber Monday deals going on today and one of the best ones is for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. If you are willing to sign a two-year contract, you can pick it up for $49.99 on either Verizon or Sprint, and only $.01 on AT&T (down from $99.99 earlier) – all three offer both the White or the Titanium versions. Stocks are limited, so if you would like to pick up one of these terrific devices, you better go online as soon as possible before they are sold out.
I know that the Note 2 is now a year old, but it is one smartphone device that is aging rather well – the specs are still good, the phone runs smooth and fast, you can take advantage of the S-Pen and the many features it offers. Multitasking is quick and easy, and even though it came out with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, it is just pushing out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade and it is on Samsung’s list to receive Android 4.4 KitKat in March-April 2014.
I used the spec sheet from Android Headlines’ Android Phone Comparisons so you can see where the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 3 differ in specifications. The battery is only 100mAh less, it is slightly thicker and heavier than the Note 3 as well. The biggest differences are the displays – the Note 2 has an HD screen with 1280×720 resolution with 265 PPI whereas the Note 3 gives you a Full HD display at 1920×1080 resolution with 386 PPI. The other area is the processor of the Note 2 is an Exynos 4412 quad-core clocked at 1.6GHz where the Note 3 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core pumping out 2.3GHz. The Note 2 sports 2GB or RAM while the Note 3 has 3GB. The other big difference is the camera – the Note 2 has a respectable 8MP camera and the Note 3 jumps up to 13MP.
I do not want you to think for one minute that the incredible specifications of the Galaxy Note 3 make the Note 2 less desirable, not at all. I owned the Galaxy Note 2 and it was a fantastic device, in fact, I was hard pressed to move on to the Note 3 and was thinking of waiting until the Galaxy Note 4, next year…but I just could not wait! The Note 2 is a terrific device and a real steal at only $50 that Verizon and Sprint are asking for the device, let alone the $.01 that AT&T is now asking.
Let us know in the comments or on Google+ if you will be picking up a Galaxy Note 2 this Cyber time of year – or if already own a Galaxy Note 2, are you still enjoying the experience.
