Download: Gmail v4.7 Featuring Vacation Responder, KitKat Printing Support, Zip Downloading and More

There’s a new version of Gmail rolling out right now. This one brings your current version which is 4.6.1 up to version 4.7. It also brings in a few new features, which we are really excited for. Thanks to Android Police for the APK, which is at the bottom of this post.

In Gmail 4.7, we’ve got a Vacation responder, which is one of the more obvious changes in this update. You can set a Vacation responder along with a start and stop time now. As well as make it so it only sends that vacation autoresponder to people that are in your contacts. Which is definitely a nice option to have. Additionally, there’s also KitKat printing support in this update. Which allows you to use the new cloud printing feature found in KitKat to print emails straight from your phone. Maybe not the best feature (I don’t know anyone that prints stuff nowadays) but it’s there for those that want or need it. Finally, there’s now archive downloading. Which means you can download zip files from the app. However, it’s not just .zip files, but also x-gzip, x-bzip2, x-compress, x-compressed, and x-tar. Which is great. Although this is one of those features you’d think would have been in Gmail a lot sooner than 2013. Well at least it made it in before 2014 came around.

Now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The download link. Yes we do have the APK, which you can download at the link below. Just make sure “Unknown Sources” is checked in Security settings and it should install like any other app. If you don’t want to sideload the app onto your device, it should be rolling out over the next week or so. As usual with Google app updates, it seems to be a staged rollout. Our favorite – not.

As always, if you find anything new in this update, leave a comment below.
