Motorola was planning to put their Moto X on sale for $350 off contract for the 16GB model and $399 for the 32GB version. However, Motorola has been having issues with their website all day. They finally got the website up and running late this morning and were able to sell the developer editions, which have since sold out. But those that wanted to get a 16GB Moto X customized are still waiting. It almost makes you think Google sent the guys responsible for the Nexus 4 launch over to Motorola.
The sale was supposed to go live at 9AM EST this morning, but so far it’s still not live. At least not fully live. This morning, Motorola acknowledged the issue and said they were working on it. But as I’m writing this, the Moto X through MotoMaker is still not up and running. Which is unfortunate, as I’m sure they are going to lose a ton of customers that wanted to purchase one for $350. Hopefully Motorola will just drop the price to $350 permanently. That will definitely help sales, but I’m not sure about their profits.
However, Motorola has sold out of the Verizon Developer Edition and the GSM Developer Edition versions of the Moto X. So at least they were able to sell a few today. Of course if you’re looking to pick up the Moto X on-contract, Amazon is selling it for $0.01 today, for those that sign contracts. We’re still waiting on more information from Motorola, and the best way to get that information is to follow them on Twitter where they are posting updates. Hopefully they get it all straightened out real quick. It’s just a shame that their site couldn’t handle all this traffic and extra sales.
How many of you were able to purchase your Developer Edition Moto X today? How many of you weren’t able too? Let us know in the comments below.
