True to their word, the Chinese manufacturer, OPPO flagship smartphone, the N1 went on sale today in the U.S. for $599 for the 16GB model and the 32GB model is slated for $649, although it shows as not yet available. The device must be ordered directly from OPPO’s own store, which currently serves North and South America, Europe, and Asia. The OPPO N1 will also be available on Amazon and Mobicity will handle the Australian customers. It does not have a LTE radio, but can be used on various HSPA+ radios from AT&T and T-Mobile. OPPO is working on a LTE model, the Find 7, with outstanding specs.
The OPPO N1 comes with some fairly impressive specifications, as any flagship should have onboard – Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Quad-Core 1.7GHz processor, 5.9-inch Full HD display at 1920×1080 (377 PPI), 2GB of RAM, 16GB Internal Memory, a 3610 mAh Battery, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. However, OPPO, is more concerned with a fine engineered device, combining both great hardware, software, and design quality, all working together to give the user the ultimate device.
It comes with a full metal aluminum frame and the body is made from a ceramic-like material. It uses a feature called O-Touch; a rear touch panel that you can use to scroll, tap, or snap photos without ever blocking the front screen with your fingers. O-Click is a remote device you carry on your keychain, to remotely snap a picture via Bluetooth. They took the Android OS and made 410 “design improvements” with 37 unique patents, to give the user OPPO’s best experience – and they will soon have a model with CyanogenMod installed out of the box.
The real highlight of the OPPO N1 has to be its 16MP rotating camera with dual flash that delivers just the right amount of flash for the situation. Much thought and engineering went into this six lens camera – a first for an Android smartphone. It sports a CMOS type sensor, a 1/3.06 imaging module, and an f/2.0 wide aperture to let in more light. By rotating 206-degrees, you can have more control over your pictures and even do a 16MP selfie if you would like.
