Sony launched some great devices this year, but as 2013 nears an end, it’s time to start looking forward at what’s coming up for the Japanese smartphone maker. First, lets take a look at a few of Sony’s accomplishments so far to date this year. They released the Sony Xperia Z and Z ultra, and the Xperia Tablet Z among some others. Those mentioned here are arguably the most popular and most successful for Sony though, with the Sony Xperia Z being the feature for them at CES 2013, and the Xperia Z Ultra getting a Google Play Edition launch just recently.
The next CES is just around the corner, and we can’t help but wonder what Sony will have in store for us. Will they plan to unveil a new smartphone at the show? Maybe some new tablets for the upcoming year? It’s all very exciting, especially considering the list of phone and tablet models that have shown up in their device database recently. Not all of these device model numbers are new, but some of them are and that’s the important thing. It gives us an idea of what Sony might be planning. Any one of the devices on the list which includes Sony models D2004, D2005, D2105, D2303, D5322, D5303, D5503, D6503, and SGP521 could be a possible CES reveal, and there seems to be a particular amount of buzz circling around the D5503(codename Amami) or better known as the Xperia Z1 mini. It seems a little unlikely to have a mini version of one of Sony’s previous year phones be a focal point or flagship for their CES presence, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t make an appearance at the show either.
While most of the devices look to be future smartphone models, the one model number that stands out to us quite a bit is the SGP521, which resembles the model number of the Xperia Tablet Z(SGP321),and is most likely Sony’s LTE enabled model of the tablet. With CES and MWC 2014 both coming up, we’re bound to see some of these devices pop up, its just matter of where and when for each of them. Hopefully Sony will come out of the gate strong with something captivating at CES, and give us something to really look forward to.
