SwiftKey is at it again – this time they have an update today that includes a special seasonal “Ice” theme in the Holidays’ tradition that includes a “cool blue” keyboard, complete with snow-capped keys and every time that you tap a key, snowflakes will appear. Flowing words brings up a snowfall and ice-themed background image. This newest version also includes a simpler installation process to make it easier for first time users and is available now on Google Play.
SwiftKey just got done giving us 500 different emoji and an added number row in their newest beta version. SwiftKey does cost about $4, but with that you get unlimited updates and beta versions to try out. If you are not currently a user, you can try out the beta keyboards for about 30 days for free to see if you really want to purchase the real version. The company is serious about being the best that it can be and it shows with their willingness to listen to users. In response to the larger smartphones, they upgraded SwiftKey with “Layouts for Living,”so that you can position it anywhere on the screen so it is most comfortable for you to type.
If you are using their latest beta version with the emoji support and optional number row – SwiftKey has updated that beta to include the new “Ice” theme so you would not be left out for the holidays. They also included a little fun by hiding a Christmas Easter Egg – if you find it let them know on Twitter at @SwiftKey.
Bug fixes in SwiftKey 4.4 included – punctuation fix where symbols weren’t always inserted, improved performance while switching fields or sending messages, forced close fixes, Hangouts for keyboard not inserting text after an emoticon, installer summary screen where it opened two Settings, keyboard didn’t hide the field when signing into Cloud, and not showing notifications on Cloud during installation.
Let us know on our Google+ Page if you use SwiftKey as your standard keyboard or if you have tried the beta versions or “Ice” theme and what you think of the product. Give it a try and I do not think you will be disappointed – the beta is free, so what do you got to lose!
