Depending on whether or not you’re in the market for a new tablet in the UK right now, there’s some good news for our UK readers. Amazon is reducing prices on their Kindle Fire HD tablets by £25 in the UK this weekend. This is to celebrate the seventh year running that the online giant has been voted number one in customer satisfaction. This is hardly surprising as Amazon is a big deal in the UK, just as it is in the States and for a lot of savvy shoppers, Amazon is the first place to look for something. Still, it’s nice to see Amazon give back, right?
Whether or not you’re invested in the Amazon ecosystem, the Kindle Fire HD line, particularly the Kindle Fire HDX tablets, are great pieces of hardware. With £25 off of their prices, the Kindle Fire HD is now cheaper than Tesco’s Hudl, even if you choose to pay more to be rid of those pesky ads. We reviewed the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 and found that unless you were ingrained in Google’s ecosystem, it’s a good tablet for anyone interested in relatively mundane tasks. These are the sort of tablets that are best suited to content consumption and perhaps for first-time tablet users. The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX can be had for £179 this weekend, which is less than the 2013 Nexus 7 and definitely a lot of tablet for your money. Featuring a Snapdragon 800 and a 2560 x 1600 display it’s a compelling option.
This latest wave of Kindle Fire tablets from Amazon haven’t been received as well as they have been in the past, leading Amazon to provide a number of ways to entice people to buy one. We’re sure this limited offer is yet another one of those special offers and it’s not sticking around for long, the MAYDAY25 code is only valid until January 20th. Let us know in the comments below if a Kindle Fire is a tablet you’d consider or, if the loss of Google services is just too bitter a pill to swallow.
