I must admit I have a soft spot in my heart for Lenovo and their products – I purchased my second ThinkPad this past summer (the first one is over 7 years old and still working) and still absolutely love it. So when I saw the Intel powered Lenovo K900 early last year, I was really hoping that it would be brought to the U.S., but if never made it to the party. It was a beautifully designed and crafted piece of technology – much like the HTC One.
With the PC market in the decline, Lenovo has made several things abundantly clear, and one of them is the importance of smartphones and tablets in their future and a second observation is that Lenovo expects to expand into the U.S. market with their devices. This years followup to the K900, the Vibe, is another beautifully executed flagship smartphone that was unveiled at IFA 2013 and rumored to be making its way to the U.S.
Lenovo has not yet announced the K7t Kingdom, but an AnTuTu benchmark alerts us to its existence and reveals some of its specifications. It has a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.26GHz, Adreno 330 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage, 13MP main camera and a 5MP front facing camera (FFC), and runs Android 4.4.1 KitKat – all pretty impressive, and although it this benchmark does not tells us about the connectivity, it will most likely sport the 4G LTE in it as well.
We could see the “Kingdom” announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) next month and hopefully an announcement of it coming to the U.S. Lenovo knows it will not be an easy task to break into the U.S. market with the current Android competition from established names like Samsung, LG, HTC, etc., but also from rising stars from other China companies, like Oppo, Xiamo, and ZTE. However, Lenovo believes that their existing distribution paths and well-known name in the computer business, will help them in distributing and being successful in smartphone and tablet categories.
Please let us know on our Google+ Page if the K7t comes to the U.S. with 4G LTE, is this a device that you may be interest in purchasing and what are Lenovo’s chances of making a dent in the global smartphone market, especially in the U.S.
